Mailbox

The mailbox for Virtue & Paradox is contact@virtueandparadox.com. It exists mainly for messages that make the site more accurate.

What to send

• Error reports. Give the page address, the sentence or table row in question and the source that shows the error. Corrections are published at the end of the entry and logged on Corrections and Verdict Changes.
• Leads on a quotation's source. If you know where a quotation appeared, send the specific source with its date: a book with its edition and page, a dated newspaper or magazine article, or a dated web page. A dated, specific source is the kind of evidence that can change a verdict, as How Claims Are Tested explains.
• Other versions of a puzzle. If you know an earlier printing of a puzzle, a different wording or the place where it first appeared, send the reference with its date. Each puzzle entry names the earliest known source and checks the version stated there.
• Credit and license problems. If an image or a text on the site is credited wrongly, or you hold rights in material shown here, send the page address and the details.

What the mailbox does not take

Some requests fall outside what the site does. The mailbox does not take requests for:

• psychological, medical or legal advice, including what to do in a real medical-ethics decision;
• instruction in yoga postures, breath-control exercises or martial arts techniques;
• opinions on living teachers or on particular schools, studios or dojos;
• rulings on whether a religion or a spiritual tradition is true;
• writing homework, essays or other assignments for you;
• taking sides in current political disputes.

For a health concern, the right contact is a doctor or another qualified professional.

Replies

The mailbox does not promise a reply or a reply time. What a report changes shows up on the site itself: at the end of the affected entry and on the corrections log.
