Corrections and Verdict Changes
Updated
This page is the public log of corrections and quote-verdict changes on Virtue & Paradox. As of October 17, 2026, the log has no entries.
What gets logged
Two kinds of change are recorded here. A correction fixes an error in an entry: a wrong fact, a misquoted line, a wrong coordinate or a source cited incorrectly. A verdict change moves a quotation from one of the five verdicts to another after new evidence turns up.
Each line in the log gives the date, links to the page that changed and states what changed. No change to a fact, a quotation, a coordinate or a verdict is made silently. The entry itself carries a note, this log carries a matching line, and the date of the last substantive revision in the entry's Cite this page block moves to the date of the change.
How a correction reads
At the end of the affected entry, a correction takes this form:
Correction (YYYY-MM-DD): The entry said X; it should say Y, based on {source}.
The same wording appears in this log, with a link to the entry. The source named in the correction is one you can open or look up, so the fix can be checked the same way as the original claim.
How a verdict change reads
When a verdict changes, the quotation's entry keeps the old verdict, struck through, beside the new one, so you can see what the entry used to say. The site also publishes an entry that explains the reasons for the change.
This log then gets a line of its own, in the correction format with both verdicts named:
Correction (YYYY-MM-DD): The entry gave the verdict {old verdict}; it should be {new verdict}, based on {source}.
An unverified line moves to misattributed or fabricated only on documentary evidence, as the rules on How Claims Are Tested require. A line that circulates widely but still cannot be found stays unverified.
Changes of position
The site argues for a few positions across several entries. If one of those positions changes, the site publishes an entry explaining why and updates the older entries that relied on the earlier view. Those updates are logged here like any other substantive revision.
Report an error
Write to contact@virtueandparadox.com with the page address, the sentence or table row in question and the source that shows the problem. A specific, dated source, such as a book with its edition and page or a dated article, makes a report quickest to check. Other kinds of messages are covered on the Mailbox page.
